New Listings on Etsy!

Even though I've been into the 20s and 30s lately, I still have a soft spot for clothing from the 70s and 80s!  Since I was a teen and twenty-something in the 80s, however, I tend to shy away from much of the clothing from that decade, because my worst nightmare would be for people to whisper, "Gee, it looks like she hasn't cleaned out her closet since 1987!"

That being said, here are a few brand-new outfits that are available at my Etsy site.  Maxine presents them for your approval:

Maxine looks every bit the 80s savvy secretary today in her outfit by "Wild Dress." It features a gathered bodice, huge shoulder pads, peplum waist, a matching belt, 3/4 length sleeves, and a pencil-skirt bottom. It's a cute wiggle dress, and it's marked a vintage size 9/10, but please refer to the measurements below:

Shoulder: Open
Bust: Approx. 19.5 (has ruching)
Waist: 14" (double, does not stretch)
Hip: 19.5 (double, does not stretch)
Length: 41" shoulder to hem
Belt: 34"

I'm selling this dress for only $10.99 plus $4.95 shipping.  I used to wear dresses just like this one to work all the time.  I adored peplum waists, and I always had the matching 80s pumps to wear with them!  (Stop laughing...)

The Roaring Twenties!!

Ever since reading "The Man in the Rockefeller Suit" by Mark Seal, I've been obsessed with the 20s and 30s!  I highly recommend Seal's book - it's a *total* page-turner.  That then lead me to read "Titan - The Biography of John D. Rockefeller," "American Empress - The Life and Times of Marjorie Merriweather Post" by Nancy Rubin (Post was the heiress of the C.W. Post cereal empire); "Flapper - A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity, and the Women Who Made America Modern" by Joshua Zeitz, and "Painfully Rich - The Outrageous Fortune and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty" by John Pearson.

Now I'm reading "When the Astors Owned New York - Blue Bloods and Grand Hotels in a Gilded Age" by Justin Kaplan.  The story of John Jacob Astor IV has always fascinated me, because he perished in the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, but not before saving his young wife who was five months pregnant with his child.

So after doing all this reading, I decided to doll up Maxine in some of my clothing and accessories that capture the timeless styles that were so popular in the 20s and 30s.

"Elegant Flapper"

"Thoroughly Modern Millie"

"Rambling Rose"

                                        Country chic
                                      The Thirties

                   More "Country Chic"

"Gatsby Revisted"

"The Charleston"

"Effortless Elegance"

Goin' for a country stroll...

More Thirties

More Gatsby...

So readers, what do you think about the Roaring 20s and the Depression 30s?  Do you have a favourite era that you tend to dress in?
